
The Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace Participates in the 67th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna
Vienna, Austria โ The Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace actively participated in the 67th session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), held in Vienna from 14โ22 March 2024, with a resumed session in December 2024.
During the session, the Council engaged in discussions and side events that addressed key global issues, including:

The implementation of international drug control treaties and monitoring the effectiveness of measures against the production and trafficking of narcotics.

Promoting public health by ensuring access to controlled medicines for medical purposes while combating illicit promotion and trafficking.

Integrating human rights and equality considerations into drug policies, emphasizing harm reduction as part of a comprehensive global response.

Strengthening international cooperation and institutional coordination to address new challenges, including synthetic drugs, through a balanced and health-centered approach.
Representatives of the Council delivered interventions, participated in high-level dialogues, and joined civil society side events to share the organizationโs perspectives and experiences in aligning drug control policies with human rights principles, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.
Through its participation, the Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to international policymaking that ensures justice, human dignity, and global solidarity in addressing the challenges of narcotic drugs and transnational organized crime.
