“Tolerance is a great value, and based on our belief at the Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace that tolerance is a virtue that has existed throughout history, across different civilizations, countries, nations, and religions.
It is a virtue that must be adopted as a fundamental structure in human policies, aspirations, and the development of values and virtues, regardless of affiliations, religions, sects, and beliefs, with the aim of building a happy world bound by ties of harmony and spirituality.
Tolerance is a vital skill of civilized living where individuals are not restricted by traditions and habits that govern their view of others, making them open and accepting towards people despite their differences. This leads to peaceful coexistence among all segments of society, replacing the culture of war with a culture of peace.
It is from this core conviction that the Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace (N.C.T.P) was established in Oslo in 2016, operating in full alignment with the vision of the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance, proclaimed and signed by UNESCO Member States on November 16, 1995.”
