The Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace takes into account several principles, the most important of which is:
Respecting the principles of the United Nations and supporting the achievement of its goals, respecting the rules of international law related to the work of non-governmental organizations, and respecting the national laws of the countries in whose territories the Council exercises its duties. It also adopts the principle of upholding the value of women, youth, and people with disabilities and enabling them to perform effective roles at the internal level.
