On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace honors women and girls worldwide, praising their achievements in the ongoing struggle for equality. Dr. Adel Hameed, the Secretary-General of the Council, emphasized that despite the significant progress women have made globallyโbreaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and advancing towards a more just and equal worldโthey still face formidable obstacles. Many women and girls endure marginalization, injustice, and discrimination, while violence against women remains a pervasive stain on humanity.
Hameed affirmed that investing in women is crucial for societal progress and development. Supporting and empowering women and girls, protecting them from violence, are essential steps toward building a world that is more just and prosperous for everyone.
